Presentation zen with emoji

In presentations, I find myself in a constant battle with giving the audience enough visual cues so they can absorb my messages without cramming a lot of words on slides. In a recent talk, I was able to use emoji to help convey my point.

See the two iterations of my concluding slide. In the first, I only use words to describe my conclusions. In the second, I use a few straight emoji icons as well as some icons hand-crafted from emoji and good old clip-art.

This approach builds on the movement to describe science in emoji which can help make our messages clearer and more accessible.
